So Husband and I like traveling. Like, really really like traveling. Such a cliche, but life is too short to not be chasing new and exciting experiences. You need change to grow as a person, and staying in the same location is not something that will challenge you. Being surrounded by everything you know and having a complete sense of familiarity- what fun is that?
We want to see what other people live like, in all of the regions of the world. We want to understand when we say something like "I am having a bad day because Publix didn't have the cookies that I wanted", that I can have the self awareness that I am an idiot. Because other countries don't have Publix, or maybe even delicious butter cookies, or even clean running water. Talk about real challenges. Helps to put things in perspective and make me realize I am being kind of a shitty person by being so upset about my damn cookies. Or how about the time after flying for a billion hours because I booked the dumbest (but cheapest!) flights to South Africa, I am in the elevator at the airport and say to my husband: "I am literally dying of thirst". Yeah that was ignorant and tacky and insensitive and the people in the elevator gave me a nasty look I completely deserved. I didn't do such a great job representing Team America there, sorry guys.
I am not telling you this to make you hate me. I actually want you to read this blog and enjoy it :) I am telling you this because Husband and I love traveling, but we are not pros. We make mistakes. We try to be culturally sensitive, but we are human. And one of us often has a difficult time thinking before she speaks. Like the time I saw the most adorable Frenchy dog in Frankfurt and squealed to the owner if I could pet his dog. He looked frightened and responded with "Please, no". As Husband sarcastically says, making friends wherever I go!
(For the record, I have a thing for smushy faced dogs. We own 2 pugs. So I kind of lose my shit when I see pugs or frenchies overseas. I am sure you will notice this as a running theme...)
So this is not going to be a picture perfect travel blog. It is not going to be filtered and curated in such a way that it seems so refined. Also, I suck at photography and use my iPhone like a real person, and don't waste time on a ton of filters. It is going to be honest, raw, and hopefully a lot of fun since we always see to have plenty of that together!
